Savanna Private Game Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Offering intimate game encounters with lion, leopard, buffalo, rhinoceros, and elephant, the five-star Savanna Game Reserve provides an unmatched safari experience.

The lodge has a range of accommodations. There are four luxury suites nestled under canvas. The bedrooms have draped ceilings and comfortable beds. The three larger executive suites also have plush sitting areas leading out onto covered patios. All the suites enjoy a spacious en suite bathroom with a free-standing tub, double vanities, and both an indoor and outdoor shower and a private deck with a plunge pool. The Savanna Suite is an opulent home with too large, beautiful bedrooms set on either side of a connecting lounge which features a television and fireplace. The bedrooms have glass doors with screens leading out onto covered patios, plunge pool, and wooden viewing deck. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen.

The Savanna Game Reserve is located on the larger 160,000-acre Sabi Sand Game Reserve, also known as the “land of the leopard” for its world-renowned leopard viewing. All of this lies within the southern portion of the Kruger National Park conservation area, which encompasses over 7,500 acres of wilderness. The “big five” roam freely, offering safari-goers the experience of viewing these mighty creatures in their natural environment. In addition to rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo, the area is home to cheetah, wild dog, hyena, over 350 bird species, and over 200 other animal species. With a diverse habitat and expansive space to roam, the indigenous wildlife wanders about without fear of human intrusion.

Morning game drives are led by experienced guides and trackers. These dedicated leaders drive specially modified Range Rovers. A morning break features tea, coffee, or the famous Savanna Amarula hot chocolate. Highlights of the later afternoon/evening game drives include basking under a glorious African sunset, sipping sundowners in the twilight, and looking for various nocturnal creatures.Safari walks are another way to experience the bushveld. Armed trackers share extensive knowledge of local plants and animals, traditional folklore, and tribal customs. There are even customized programs for children.

The colonially-styled main lodge houses a spacious viewing patio, bar and lounge, elevated viewing loft, and library. Candlelit dinners made from a blend of local spices and international cuisine are served on the deck. When the weather is favorable, there are even barbecues around the open-air boma while a local choir sings .The lodge’s refreshing pool is the ideal place to relax and cool off. Savanna’s own qualified therapist offers guests a range of relaxing treatments in the privacy of their suites.
