Waterbuck Private Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Set in the beautiful Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Waterbuck Private Camp at Kings Camp reflects the charm and romance of a luxurious colonial past.

Accommodations at the camp consist of a four-bedroom air-conditioned villa, accommodating up to eight guests, perfect for families and small group safaris. These spacious, luxury suites are gorgeously decorated in dark woods and thatch roofs, off-setting the natural colors of the bush. Each suite features a large bathroom with a romantic Victorian ball-and-claw bathtub, as well as an indoor and double outdoor shower. For the perfect spot to relax and watch the wildlife amble past, each suite has its own private veranda with a hammock overlooking the bush. Other amenities include a fully stocked mini-bar, robes, mosquito repellent, an umbrella, hairdryer, in-room safe, and telephone. In addition, the camp offers two spacious, air-conditioned Honeymoon Suites with the added luxury of a private plunge pool on the deck. The little touches of complimentary sherry and fruit platter add an extra layer of comfort to the whole experience.

Kings Camp Private Game Reserve sits within the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve on the western boundary of the world-famous Kruger National Park. Located within both the Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces, the reserve was established in 1995 as a premier Eco-tourism destination. In 1992, the western boundary fence separating the Kruger National Park and the Timbavati was removed to create a 4.9-million-acre open natural ecosystem that would enhance and promote natural environment. Today this impressive wilderness area is often referred to as the Greater Kruger Conservancy.

Several exciting activities are available from the camp. An expert ranger and tracker lead morning and afternoon game drives in a state of the art open Land Cruiser. While tracking down leopards on the hunt or hippos wallowing in the river, guests can watch the wildlife while being served tea, coffee. and biscuits on their morning game drive and drinks and canapés on their afternoon game drive. After a hearty breakfast, expert guides conduct bush walks for a closer view of the wildlife as well as lessons on tracking and the uses of local plants. For an aerial view, helicopter rides explore the beauty of Blyde Canyon, the third deepest in the world. There are also hot air balloon rides over the reserve. A tour of Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center teaches about their conservation efforts and affords magnificent views of their cheetahs.

The main area of the lodge is raised above a dry riverbed and savanna plains; which are frequented by a wide variety of wildlife by day and night. The outdoor living area features a sparkling pool, viewing deck with fireplace, and dining area. A fully equipped modern and air-conditioned kitchen is available. Or guests can enjoy delicious world class meals in the elegant dining room, boma, or private viewing deck under a clear, starry sky. For healthy habits or a little pampering, the lodge has a full-gym, as well as the Lodge Spa Tsala with its full menu of relaxing spa treatments. There is also a library and computers with Wi-fi available.
