The Peech Hotel

PLAN MY TRIP

A lush garden oasis tucked in the chic suburb of Melrose, The Peech Hotel offers a relaxing and intimate escape within the hustle and bustle of cosmopolitan Johannesburg.

Accommodations capitalize on the botanical beauty and peaceful quality of its quiet suburb location. Small and intimate, the hotel has sixteen cottage-style rooms housed in four buildings all grouped around a verdant, well-manicured garden and refreshing dark-tiled pool. There are garden rooms, garden suites, and two rooms within the original house, a former residence built in the 1950s. All rooms have their own private patio or balcony. As a respite from sightseeing, guests can read a good book or sip their morning coffee from the comfort of a hanging pod chair providing an excellent view of the gardens. Decorated in calming blue mosaic tiles, the over-sized bathrooms house large porcelain tubs or walk-in rain dance showers. All rooms enjoy the added amenities of a flat screen television, Nespresso Machine, laptop safe, air-conditioning, high-speed internet, and free Wi-Fi.

Enhancing the whole experience, the hotel also has a well-appointed library, boardroom, small pool with comfortable loungers, and access to the adjacent Planet Fitness for a small fee. The lobby features unique modern art pieces by local artists like the intriguing QLockTwo by Biegert and Funk.

Located in trendy Melrose, The Peech is close to Sandton, the business hub of the city, as well as Rosebank, and Melrose arch. Opposite the hotel, James and Ethel Park affords an excellent view of the city center from the brow of its hill. Nearby Wrenrose Center, a popular shopping mall, provides the allure of boutique shops, cafes, beauty services, and Intoto Gallery, featuring local and international artists.

Guests can tempt their taste buds and enjoy the fruits of the vine from South Africa’s own wine estates in the hotel’s well-appointed French bistro. Meals here focus on simplicity and fresh flavors. The restaurant serves up seasonal dishes sourced from local  suppliers or the hotel’s very own vegetable garden and offers a relaxing atmosphere with deep leather couches set atop beautiful sandstone floors. The Peech Bar features locally crafted wines, beers, and spirits and even hosts wine tasting and food pairing events during the week. With a great view of the splendid gardens, it’s the perfect spot for an aperitif or a night-cap.

An award-winning hotel, The Peech has won the prestigious Best City Hotel in Africa. In addition to which, the hotel strives towards preserving the environment. An eco-friendly hotel, they use solar geysers to reduce their carbon footprint. They are also Fair Trade Tourism certified.
