Phinda Zuka Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Set within dense woodlands and overlooking a popular watering hotel, intimate and exclusive luxury can be found at Phinda Zuka Lodge.

An intimate safari retreat, this sole-use lodge has four thatched Zulu-style bush cottages all with an attentive staff ready to serve. Each luxury suite decorated in cool blue hues and stone has an en suite bathroom with deep, circular bathtubs, double showers, and twin sinks. Herds of antelope can be seen from the private sitting room or veranda. Other amenities include air-conditioning, fan, mini-bar, in-room safe, and twin beds upon request.

Set in the west of Phinda Private Game Reserve, the lodge sits withing 23,000 hectares of protected land in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The reserve sits between Mkuze Reserve and Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, a World Heritage site, and is not far from the Indian Ocean. The cropped lawn ends in a popular watering hole affording ample opportunities to spot a variety of wildlife from antelopes to zebras. With the reintroduced cheetah population in the park, it’s a great spot to view or photograph these speedy predators.

The lodge has a variety of activities. For an up-close adventure, the lodge furnishes a black rhino tracking expedition on foot and luxury bush walks. Family safaris ensure that accompanying children enjoy a safe and educational safari with their parents. There are also beach and scuba diving safaris to Maputaland, as well as late night turtle adventures in season to watch leatherback and loggerhead turtles lay their eggs on the beach under the light of the moon. Other activities include canoeing and a motor boat cruise on the Mizanine River or arranging a flight over the reserve.

This high-end safari lodge focuses on individual attention and service. A personal butler caters to every whim. Dedicated rangers and vehicles are held on stand-by and tailored as a unique experience. An interactive kitchen means guests can cook with the personal chef or sit back and feast on favorite dishes or newly discovered delights.

The lodge has many exciting extra luxuries. A sparkling pool with an extended wooden deck overlooks the watering hole. There is also a library, traditional boma for open-air dining, a masseuse, indoor lounge with a fireplace, and free Wi-fi.
