Pafuri Walking Trails

PLAN MY TRIP

Pafuri Walking Trails explores the remote and game-rich corners of Northern Kruger National Park.

This exciting walking expedition is tailor-made to suit the guest’s preferences and schedule though three days is the recommended minimum for a maximum of up to eight people per trail. From the home base of Pafuri Luxury Tented Camp, expert field guides take explorers through the untamed wilderness of Northern Kruger National Park. Here the land changes dramatically from riverine forests to craggy mountains to wide floodplains to stark salt pans. This is the best way to see the big five that the Kruger is famous for, as well as the smaller flora and fauna along the way, and some of the 450 different species of bird life. Some of the exciting destinations include Crook’s Corner, where the Luvuvhu and Limpopo Rivers meet, Lanner Gorge, and the Luvuvhu fever tree forest.

The trails are recommended for experienced hikers who are used to multi-day hikes. Accommodations are provided at Pafuri Luxury Tented Camp with two people per tent sleeping on comfortable camping beds. Bucket showers with hot water are provided and there are chemical toilets. All meals are included but drinks are separate. At night, guests gather around the firepit to relax and swap stories.

Typical Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Begins with a briefing of what to expect followed by a guided walk of the area.
  • Days 2 & 3: These days are divided between guided bush walks, relaxing tent-side, or game drives.
  • Day 4: Begins with a morning walk before saying farewell to this spectacular, remote wilderness and departing.
