Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Sculpted into a slope of the earth and blending into the landscape, Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge represents a new environmentally-sensitive era into luxury safari lodges.

Each of the lodge’s thirteen individually designed suites come with specially designed furniture, private plunge pool, en-suite glass-fronted bathroom, and indoor and outdoor shower. Enhancing the already incredible destination, the suites feature natural wooden sculptures by renowned South African artist Geoffrey Armstrong. The special Amber Suite is the epitome of the Earth Lodge experience with its spacious accommodation, impressively carved wooden headboard, steam room, study, and kitchen.

The lodge lies in the 160,000-acre Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, a wilderness oasis in South Africa’s impressive Kruger National Park. The “big five” roam freely, offering safari-goers the experience of viewing these mighty creatures in their natural environment. In addition to rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo, the area is home to cheetah, wild dog, hyena, over 350 bird species, and over 200 other animal species. With a diverse habitat and expansive space to roam, the indigenous wildlife wanders about without fear of human intrusion.

Professional guides and trackers contribute their knowledge and experience to the day and night game drives conducted in open Land Rovers. They follow the animals on and off-road and deep into the heart of the wild African Bushveld. Walking safaris are led by an armed guide and provide a more intimate look at the local flora and fauna. Pre-booked photographic safaris have the benefit of a professional photographer to help guide and even lend cameras and lens for that perfect shot. Bird watchers will enjoy a chance to glimpse such species as Pel’s fishing owl, lappet-faced vulture, kori bustard, martial eagle, bat hawk, saddle-billed stork, and narina trogon.

Upon arrival, a hidden corridor opens unexpectedly onto a panoramic view of the bush. Everything here exist in harmony with its surroundings. Walls surrounding the outdoor boma have been hand-made piece by piece from uniquely shaped tree roots and add to the drama of a dining experience under the African stars. Panoramic views from the indoor and outdoor dining areas encourage a sense of calm. Additional amenities include a meditation garden, an underground wine cellar with a collection of over 6000 bottles of rare wines, a sophisticated bar, a comfortable lounge, and a reading lounge. The Amani Spa has a wide range of holistic and relaxing spa treatments available. There is also a fully equipped gym.
