Sabi Sabi Selati Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Evoking a historic railway theme and colonial charm, Sabi Sabi’s Selati Lodge in a private reserve with Kruger National Park is a romantic bush home away from home.

Eight sumptuous retreats feature en-suite bathrooms, private outdoor showers, opulently draped beds, and panoramic views. The Ivory Presidential Suite, a favorite choice of kings, queens, and the most discerning travelers offers colonial elegance, original antiques, Persian carpets, a fireplace, separate dressing room, private terrace, and plunge pool. The Lourenco Marques Suite is a favorite of honeymooners for its exquisite linens, candlelit elegance, and petal-strewn bed. Continuing the railway theme original steam engine name plates, signals, and shunter’s lamps light the way to the suites.

The lodge lies in the 160,000-acre Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, a wilderness oasis in South Africa’s impressive Kruger National Park. The “big five” roam freely, offering safari-goers the experience of viewing these mighty creatures in their natural environment. In addition to rhino, elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo, the area is home to cheetah, wild dog, hyena, over 350 bird species, and over 200 other animal species. With a diverse habitat and expansive space to roam, the indigenous wildlife wanders about without fear of human intrusion.

Professional guides and Shangaan trackers contribute their knowledge and experience to the day and night game drives conducted in open Land Rovers. They follow the animals on and off-road and deep into the heart of the wild African Bushveld. Walking safaris are led by an armed guide and provide a more intimate look at the local flora and fauna. Pre-booked photographic safaris have the benefit of a professional photographer to help guide and even lend cameras and lens for that perfect shot. Bird watchers will enjoy a chance to glimpse such species as Pel’s fishing owl, lappet-faced vulture, kori bustard, martial eagle, bat hawk, saddle-billed stork, and narina trogon.

Gourmet fare is served in the open-air boma, in the farmhouse kitchen, or on decks overlooking the Msuthlu riverbed. The camp’s quiet grandeur combined with a personalized safari experience provides guests with lifelong memories. Guests are invited to use the relaxing Amani Spa and boutique shops at either Bush Lodge or Earth Lodge. In addition to providing the safari trip of a lifetime, the camp’s dedication to conservation is an integral part of its mission. A carefully crafted and constantly updated Habitat Management Plan includes initiatives such as pumping water, clearing encroached grasslands, maintaining roads, eradicating alien species, and disposing of waste-water.
