The Silo Hotel

PLAN MY TRIP

Towering above the Victoria and Alfred waterfront, the Silo Hotel boasts stunning views of the Mother City and world-class accommodations.

The Silo Hotel has twenty-eight rooms, including a spectacular one-bedroom penthouse. Each colorful room includes eclectic furnishings that juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture. There are seven room categories based on size and views. The Silo Rooms have harbor views and a balcony while the larger luxury rooms have a mountain view and a balcony. The superior suites have both mountain and harbor views as well as a bedroom on the mezzanine level. The deluxe superior suites are even larger with tall, glass windows. While the family suite has two bedrooms on a mezzanine level. The Royal suites also have two bedrooms. Of course, the pinnacle of luxury is the penthouse suite. It has one bedroom on the top floor facing Table Mountain.

The hotel is ideally located near Cape Town’s most notable and visited attraction, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Still a working dock, visitors can watch ships come and go. The V & A, as it is locally known, also boasts hundreds of shops and is a departing point for ferries to Hout Bay, Simon’s Town, the Cape Fur Seal colony, and Robben Island, location of the Nelson Mandela Gateway. Other nearby attractions include Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Artscape Theatre Centre, Cape Winelands, and Cape Town Stadium, a 2010 FIFA World Cup venue.

With a Mediterranean climate, rugged mountains, considerable coastline, inland valleys, coastal plains, and semi-desert fringes Cape Town is comparable to southern California. The outdoor adventurist can enjoy a range of activities from lounging on one of the many world-class beaches, to exploring Table Mountain where the eighty-seven-year-old cableway provides panoramic views of the Mother City. Dolphin and whale watching are also popular tourist attractions as well as cage diving with great white sharks for the more daring.

The exterior of the building was designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. The ingenious glass windows bulge outward as if gently inflated and provide stunning panoramic views of the city. Guests can relax at the spa which has five treatment rooms as well as a gym, sauna, and a dedicated manicure and pedicure area. The hotel’s casual and contemporary menus include breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, bar snacks and a wonderful Sunday Roast. For even more luxury, the Silo Rooftop is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail. There is also a rooftop pool where poolside lounging is complemented with treats from the tempura bar, fresh oysters, pulled pork sandwiches, and a selection of healthy snacks from the raw bar. For art lover, the Zeitz Museum Of Contemporary Art Africa is situated below the hotel.
