Royal Malewane

PLAN MY TRIP

Effortlessly blending modern comfort and convenience with historic simplicity and romance, Royal Malewane is a safari lodge offering adventure, beauty, and tranquility.

Accommodations consist of six luxury suites that feature seclusion, spectacular views, and colonial-style ambiance. An elegant king-sized bed, fireplace, spacious bath, indoor and outdoor showers, private wooden decks, rim-flow pool, and thatched gazebo add to the extravagance of each suite. For an even more exclusive experience, Royal Malewane offers two opulent suites that sleep up to four guests. The suite comes with its own lounge, dining room, pool, and expansive deck. Old-world style comes to life with classic antiques, paintings, and curios. For families or larger groups, Africa House is a private six-bedroom and full-equipped house, a short drive from the main lodge. The child-friendly house also has a private chef, butler, and game drive on hand.

Royal Malewane is located on a private reserve within South Africa’s renowned Kruger National Park. One of Africa’s most well-known conservation areas, Kruger claims nearly 150 species of large mammals, more than any other African game reserve. Webcams are set up to catch sight of the “big five”: elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. In addition to supporting the packs of endangered African wild dog, the park is home to many other animals including zebra, cheetah, giraffe, hippo, wildebeest, impala, and spotted hyena. Over 500 bird species have been spotted in the park, and indigenous reptiles include the black mamba and crocodile.

Game-rich Kruger National Park is ideal for exploring during the twice-daily game drives. Other activities include excursions to the surrounding areas. At the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, animals such as eagles, owls, wild dogs, lions, and leopards are carefully nursed back to health. The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre introduces visitors to a variety of endangered animals such as wild dog, black-footed cat, African wild cat, sable antelope, and vulture. In addition to which, there are also thrilling helicopter flights, hot air balloon flights, canyon cruises, golf outings, and horseback safaris available upon request.

The main lodge houses an elegant reception area as well as an air-conditioned library, curio shop, dining area, and sitting area. There is also an on-site gym, lap pool, and spa. Dining is a leisurely affair at Royal Malewane. While enjoying native wildlife graze at the busy waterhole below, guests feast on gourmet dinners that feature traditional dishes and South African wines. For a highly memorable meal, dinners can be enjoyed outdoors in the boma, complete with traditional singing and dancing, flame-grilled delicacies, sounds of the night creatures, and beauty of the African stars. An even more private and romantic meal can be arranged under the Bedouin tent with its dazzling Moroccan lanterns.
