Activities at Kwandwe emerge from the staff’s passion for sharing their knowledge of the bush. Twice daily game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles are the primary activity. Morning drives begin at dawn when many animals are grazing before the heat of the day. Late afternoon, evening, and night drives often result in unusual sightings, including porcupine, aardwolf, aardvark, and leopard. For a more intimate look at the bush, guided nature walks led by an armed guard study the various flora and fauna of the Reserve. The dense euphorbia thickets are best explored on foot, revealing a secret world of lichen, mosses and ferns. Three- to four-hour big game walking safaris are also available with an armed guard. Specialist rangers lead Save the Rhino drives to learn about this endangered creature. Boating trips explore the Great Fish River.

The main area houses sophisticated, glass-fronted sitting and dining areas whose expansive viewing decks enjoy great river views where Cape clawless otters play in the cool water. The dining is fantastic with pan-African cuisine served on the private decks, in the candlelit dining room, at the traditional boma. The lodge also has a refreshing communal pool as well as a library and bar.
