Four Rosmead

PLAN MY TRIP

Situated on the slopes of Table Mountain, Four Rosmead is an outstanding boutique guesthouse in the vibrant city of Cape Town.

Once a private mansion, accommodations at the hotel consist of four Deluxe rooms, three Luxury rooms, and a Suite in the Cottage. All are superb and individually decorated, each with extra-length beds and beautiful en-suite bathrooms. Air conditioning is standard as are bath robes, heated towel rail, under-tile heating, hairdryers, bar, fridge, and coffee/tea facilities. The rooms have a satellite TV, a DVD player with a DVD library available in the guesthouse, and an iPod base station with speakers.

Set against the slopes of Table Mountain, the hotel is within a longish walk of both the city center and Cape Town’s historic sector. These include the Company Gardens, the National Museum & Art Gallery, the Parliament buildings, and Green Market Square with its local artisans. Table Mountain is a destination in itself, and can be reached by cableway or a hike up to the top. A Mediterranean climate, rugged mountains, considerable coastline, inland valleys, coastal plains, and semi-desert fringes make it comparable to southern California. Any visit to Cape Town should involve a visit to one of the many beaches. Their close proximity to each other even allows for several different beach visits in a single day.

Cape Town’s most notable and visited attraction is the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Still a working dock, visitors can watch ships come and go. The V & A, as it is locally known, also boasts hundreds of shops and is a departing point for ferries to Hout Bay, Simon’s Town, the Cape Fur Seal colony, and Robben Island, location of the Nelson Mandela Gateway. Other nearby attractions include Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Artscape Theatre Centre, Cape Winelands, and Cape Town Stadium, a 2010 FIFA World Cup venue. Dolphin and whale watching are also popular tourist attractions as well as cage diving with great white sharks for the more daring.

Built in 1903, the hotel is still recognized for its historical value but has been sensitively and stylishly re-modelled. Four Rosmead has beautiful landscaped gardens that add to its urban oasis aura. A patio overlooks the wonderful saltwater pool where guests can relax on sun loungers or take a refreshing swim. Upon request, the hotel can also arrange various spa services including massage treatments and facials. In the morning, the hotel offers continental or full English breakfasts, including vegetarian friendly daily specials. The hotel’s art gallery displays carefully selected artwork that has been crafted by local South African artists. Most of the pieces are available for purchase.
