SET ON THE BANKS OF THE THAMALAKANE RIVER, THAMO TELELE IS JUST TWENTY MINUTES FROM MAUN, THE GATEWAY TO THE WORLD-FAMOUS OKAVANGO DELTA.
Accommodations at Thamo Telele consist of luxury tented rooms which are set on raised wide-angle teak decks, plus two larger chalets best suited for families. The Meru-style luxury tents are well-furnished and include crisp cotton linen, comfortable twin or king beds, overhead fan, and an air conditioner directly above the bed for those hotter months. The en-suite bathrooms include a deep tub and an outdoor shower.
Thamo Telele is located in a private game reserve not far from Maun. The reserve sits on the banks of the Thamalakane River and boasts an abundance of wildlife including giraffe, zebra, springbok, ostrich, eland, gemsbok, and kudu as well as an extensive variety of bird life.
The nearby Okavango Delta covers an area of over anywhere from 9,000 square miles in the drier season to 13,000 square miles in the wetter season and consists of extensive waterways, swamps, flooded grasslands, and floodplains. Not surprisingly, this oasis attracts some of the world’s highest concentrations of wildlife, including all the quintessential African mammals from lion to elephant to hippo to giraffe to rhino to zebra as well as crocodiles, hyena, cheetah, leopard, sable antelope, buffalo, zebra, warthog, and chacma baboon.
