Splash Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

The all new Splash Camp welcomes visitors to the stunning Okavango Delta with a relaxed, authentic safari experience in a game-rich private concession.

Accommodations consist of twelve tented rooms. Each canvas room sits on a raised deck. Decorated with simple elegance, each room features contemporary furnishings and an en suite bathroom with his and hers sinks, a flush toilet, and both an indoor and a romantic outdoor shower. There are two family rooms with an extra bedroom and a shared bathroom. Plus, every room comes with a private veranda fitted with comfy lounge chairs making it the perfect spot to relax and watch the wildlife or soak in a sunset over the Delta.

The camp is situated in the Kwara Concession within the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the “jewel of the Kalahari,” the Okavango Delta is one of the world’s premiere ecosystems. The private concession includes 650 square miles of stunning landscape and borders the Moremi Game Reserve. The Kwara Concession has a wide diversity of habitats, ranging from the clear delta waters with reed-lined lagoons and channels to open grasslands to mopane woodlands to palm-fringed islands.

Of course, the featured activities at Kwara are the daily and nightly game drives led by a professional guide and a tracker. But there may be nothing more awe-inspiring than observing wild animals while on a unique walking safari. The watery terrain is perfect for both mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe adventure and motorboat cruises enjoying the spectacular birds, shy antelope, majestic elephant, hippo, and crocodiles living here. Fishing in the lagoon and river channels is a unique experience. There are several tilapia species (including the olive bream or nembwe, red breasted tilapia, purple faced largemouth, and three spot tilapia), catfish, African pike, and the mighty tiger fish.

The main area of camp houses an orientation center, lounge, bar, and dining room. The camp’s refreshing plunge pool invites guests to unwind and cool off after a dusty game drive. The boutique sells those must have souvenirs. While at night everyone gathers around the firepit to reminisce over the day’s adventures as well as make new friends.
