Little Sable

PLAN MY TRIP

For an intimate and welcoming retreat to the lush wilderness of Botswana, Little Sable is the ideal place to be.

Accommodations at the camp consist of just eight meru-style tents. Each tent is furnished with a large, inviting king-bed that can be converted into two twins and a writing desk for sending postcards back home or recording the day’s adventures. The en-suite bathroom includes a dual vanity, flush toilet, and a shower. The tent’s best feature is the private veranda with chairs for relaxing and soaking in the sights of the lush grassland and its inhabitants.

Little Sable is situated within the 440,000-acre Khwai Private Reserve bordering the Okavango Delta World Heritage Site. One of the best maintained concessions, Khwai comprises a diverse number of habitats including riverine woodlands, open floodplains, river, and mopane woodland. This part of Botswana its fed by the rains from Angola that run down the Khwai and Sable Alley Rivers making it a year-round verdant paradise. A variety of game animals live here too from lions, leopards, wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, and the sable antelopes. Rare wildlife like wild dogs, serval cats, and the elusive pangolin have been spotted here. The camp is also quite close to the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve.

A variety of different activities are available from the camp. Day drives are conducted by expert rangers in traditional safari vehicles. Night drives are an exhilarating way to encounter nocturnal animals at play such as leopards, spiky porcupines, and honey badgers. Because the camp sits in a private reserve and only three vehicles per sighting go out a day, the camp provides a very exclusive view of the land and animals. In addition to which, Little Sable also offers the exciting mokoro safari. Botswana’s version of a gondola, visitors can enjoy being gently poled along the water in a traditional canoe. It’s the ideal way to do some bird watching or catch sight of grunting hippos and snapping crocodiles. For an unforgettable and uplifting experience, sky-beds, located high on a tree above a waterhole are available so guests can fall asleep to the wild lullaby of elephant, baboon, and hyena below.

The main area of camp houses a thatched dining room, lounge, and bar all featuring stylish décor and cozy cushioned chairs. In front of the main area lies a sunken lounge with a fire pit where guests can warm themselves while enjoying a pre-dinner drink while watching the zebra and elephants that come here to graze. The camp will soon be adding a pool.
