Linyanti Bush Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Linyanti Bush Camp is an intimate camp in the traditional style of early explorer camps overlooking the Linyanti marshes and stands side by side with its sister camp, Linyanti Ebony.

The camp’s six tented rooms are built on concrete foundations and have sandy porches. The spacious rooms are neutrally decorated and have sisal-mat flooring and polished wooden furniture. A writing desk, comfortable sofa, and sleigh-style bed with duvets and crisp linen complete the comfort. Each tent comes with an en-suite bathrooms complete with a shower, hot and cold water, and a flush toilet.

Linyanti Bush Camp is situated on the banks of Linyanti Marsh. The area’s relative remoteness and abundant wildlife makes it a favored safari destination and one of the most sought-after regions in northern Botswana. Known for the populations of elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers during the dry season (May to October), the area also attracts a variety of plains game including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland, sable, roan, red lechwe , and the rare and elusive Sitatunga antelope. Hippo and crocodile can be found in the marshes. Major predators in the area include lion, hyena, wild dog, cheetah, and leopard. Birdwatching in this region is particularly excellent.

There are plenty of exciting activities available from the camp. Twice daily game drives are conducted in 4×4 vehicles and led by expert guides. Night drives follow the nocturnal creatures such as aardvark, civet, and leopard. Guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides who share their knowledge and love of the bush. Depending on the level of the yearly floods, boating trips may be available on the Linyanti as well as fishing. Another exciting way to explore the waterways is a mokoro trip on a traditional dug-out canoe steered by long poles.

The main lodge area is a large open-sided canvas tent that is raised on wooden decking and encompasses a dining area, a small library, a bar, and a lounge with comfortable sofas. The deck gives a full view of the Linyanti floodplains where large herds of elephant and buffalo move freely. There is also a small splash pool. Occasionally, elephant and other animals wander through the camp. The day usually starts with an early light breakfast, followed by a more substantial brunch and light lunch. Afternoon tea is served before the afternoon/evening drive, and a delicious three-course dinner is standard.
