Dinaka

PLAN MY TRIP

Situated on the northern edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Dinaka provides an exclusive, 5-Star luxury experience in this beautiful and ever-changing desert landscape.

Accommodations at the camp consist of seven spacious twin and double-bedded safari tents. Each tent is elegantly furnished with wood floors, comfy beds draped in mosquito netting, safari trunk, and inviting chairs. The en suite bathrooms feature hot and cold running water, twin vanities, a flush toilet and both an indoor and outdoor shower. The tents sits perched on a wooden deck with a shaded porch overlooking the local waterhole. For familes, there is a two-bedroomed tent with a shared en-suite bathroom.

The camp is ideally located within its own private reserve on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Central Kalahari is the second largest protected wildlife reserve on earth set in the heart of central Botswana. Not truly a desert, the summer rains cause the semi-arid Kalahari to explode with life. In fact, the savanna grows a covering of lush grasses and wildflowers, and herds of grazing mammals descend into the basin to feed. This area is home to the legendary black-maned Kalahari lion, the lively honey badger, and vast herds of antelope, as well as some of the highest concentrations of cheetah in Africa.

The camp’s primary activity is their morning and afternoon game drives in open-topped safari vehicles across the grasslands. Though wildlife is viewable from the camp itself, expertly guided drives aim for animal hotspots where the density and activity are at their peak. For a more intimate exploration of the desert, guided bush walks are the best way to see the Kalahari up-close and in detail. The camp’s sleep-out deck is the perfect spot to sleep under an expanse of starry sky while the animals sing a wild lullaby. Bird watchers while reveal in the 200-plus species found hereabouts including the kori bustard, crimson breasted shrike, and pale chanting goshawks. There is even several photographic hides for that perfect, up-close shot of the plentiful wildlife drinking at the waterhole.

The camp’s tents and main area are all connected via raised wooden walkways that are wheelchair accessible. The central area houses a cozy open-air lounge and dining room. Meals are also served outside under the wide African sky. The camp’s refreshing pool invites guests to cool off after an exciting afternoon while still enjoying the views of the magnificent Kalahari.
