Mashatu Euphorbia Villas

PLAN MY TRIP

Perched high up on a cliff face, picturesque Mashatu Euphorbia Villas is a new five-star camp with an intimate feel set within the private Mashatu Reserve.

Luxury accommodations at the lodge consist of eight charming and secluded private villas. The villas’ unique shape is inspired by the curves of the local Mopane trees which shade the camp and provide food for the wildlife. Each spacious villa features an en suite bathroom with not only both an inside and outside shower but both an inside toilet and a second toilet with a view of the bush as well. Moreover, each villa enjoys its own private plunge pool with a spectacular view of the ravine.

The villas are ideally located in the Mashatu Game Reserve which comprises some 72,000 acres in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana. The reserve lies in the east of Botswana where the great Limpopo and Shashe Rivers converge. This exceptionally diverse landscape includes wide open plains, grassland, riverine forests, rocky hills, marshland, and majestic sandstone ridges. The reserve is home to no less than seven of Africa’s “giants” – the African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, ostrich, and the kori bustard. There are over 350 species of birds. Nearby, archaeologists have discovered evidence of middle and late Stone Age tools as well as the dinosaur footprints of Vhembe and Sentinel which are estimated to be 50-100 million years old.

There are many exciting activities available at the camp. Morning and afternoon game drives led by expert guides explore the reserve and its big game animals. Walking safaris are tailor-made to suit the disposition of the client and provides a more detailed look at the flora and fauna. The nearby Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris is honored with the reputation of having the finest schooled horses on the African continent and have a combination of horse safaris to choose from. There is nothing more breathtaking than galloping on horseback alongside herds of antelope, over the wild open plains of Mashatu. Cycle safaris take in the reserve on mountain bike with either single day or three-day safaris available. Plus, the camp also has two photographic hides in two selected sites plus a mobile hide on the reserve.

The main area houses a comfortable lounge, bar, curio shop and a dining room with both a lower and upper terrace from awe-inspiring views of the bush. Of course, the most dramatic views can be enjoyed will dining in the open boma in the glow of up-lit euphorbia trees. There is even a cocktail sala viewpoint overlooking the cliff side.
