Mashatu Lodge

Situated on the eastern fringe of the Kalahari, Mashatu Lodge is an oasis of luxury and comfort.

Accommodations at the camp consist of fourteen luxury suites set along the camp’s perimeter. Each of the air-conditioned suites is tastefully decorated. Each room has a double bed and an extra-large single bed. The ample seating area also has a day bed providing more than enough space to comfortably accommodate families with younger children. The spacious en-suite bathroom features both a bath and shower. Other amenities include an in-room safe, hair dryer, tea and coffee facilities, and laundry service. This is the ideal camp for the family traveler.

Mashatu Lodge is situated in the Mashatu Game Reserve comprises some 72,000 acres in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana. The reserve lies in the east of Botswana where the great Limpopo and Shashe Rivers converge. This exceptionally diverse landscape includes wide open plains, grassland, riverine forests, rocky hills, marshland, and majestic sandstone ridges. The reserve is home to no less than seven of Africa’s “giants” – the African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, ostrich, and the kori bustard. There are over 350 species of birds. Nearby, archeologists have discovered evidence of middle and late stone age tools as well as the dinosaur footprints of Vhembe and Sentinel which are estimated to be 50-100 million years old.

There are many exciting activities available at the camp. Morning and afternoon game drives led by expert guides explore the reserve and its big game animals. Walking safaris are tailor-made to suit the disposition of the client and provides a more detailed look at the flora and fauna. Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris is honored with the reputation of having the finest schooled horses on the African continent and have a combination of horse safaris to choose from. There is nothing more breathtaking than galloping on horseback alongside herds of antelope, over the wild open plains of Mashatu. Cycle safaris take in the reserve on mountain bike with either single day or three-day safaris available. The camp also has two photographic hides in two selected sites plus a mobile hide on the reserve.

A large swimming pool is the most popular spot in the camp to spends some hours on the hot days between game activities. Meals are a sumptuous celebration of traditional African Cuisine with plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, home-made breads and pies, succulent meat dishes, and delicious desserts. The camp provides a children’s program geared for ages 4-12 which is designed to entertain the children, while teaching them about the bush and the wildlife.
