Ngoma Safari Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Ngoma Safari Lodge is perched on the banks of the Chobe River as it flows through the Chobe Forest Reserve, bordering the western edge of northern Botswana’s Chobe National Park.

Ngoma Safari Lodge is a luxurious safari destination that offers accommodation in eight elegant, river-facing suites. Each unit provides spacious internal and external living areas, overhead fans, air-conditioning, and mini bar. Each suite comes with an en-suite bathroom with a bath as well as an inside and outside shower. Two of the eight suites have Italian daybeds that can be converted for use as triples. But the best feature of the suites in the private outdoor living area with its open views of the river and a refresh and relax pool.

The lodge is located in Chobe National Park. The park covers around 4,500 square miles and has some of the largest concentrations of game found on the continent. The Chobe region of Botswana is well known as an area where game is abundant. Particularly famous are the Chobe elephants. The area is home to more than 75 mammal species and around 450 bird species. In fact, the region is home to an impressive diversity of mammals including waterbuck, lechwe, puku, giraffe, kudu, roan, sable, impala, warthog, bushbuck, monkeys, baboons, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, hippo, and crocodile.

Morning and afternoon game drives into Chobe National Park are the featured activity most days. Most remarkable about this area is the real possibility that you will encounter hundreds of elephants on a single game drive. Nature walks explore the park for a more intimate and detailed encounter with the flora and fauna, all led by an expert guide and tracker. While night drives follow the nocturnal animals darting across the spotlights. Boat cruises of the Chobe River take in the sights as elephants cross the water and hippos grunt and Nile crocodiles snap away. Cultural visits are available to explore the local villages and schools.

The main lodge area is spacious with attractive African-inspired décor. The indoor living spaces are air-conditioned for comfort, while the spacious outdoor lounge and the private plunge pool have wonderful views over the bush and river. A reception area, dining room, bar area, and a curio shop complete the picture. A viewing deck provides a perfect setting from which to enjoy a beautifully prepared evening meal with views over a floodlit waterhole frequented by elephants, zebra, antelope, and other game.
