Mbamba Safari Camp, named after the Bukakhwe San Bushman word for "hello," is a welcoming tented camp in the northern Okavango Delta, offering year-round game viewing and exceptional guided wilderness experiences.

Designed in the classic Ralph Bousfield safari style, the camp features 12 stylish canvas tents (4 double, 6 twin, and 2 family) nestled under large leadwood trees. Each air-conditioned tent, set on raised wooden decks, exudes vintage safari charm with plush fabrics, mahogany sideboards, Persian rugs, and four-poster beds. Spacious en-suite bathrooms and private verandas offer respite from the heat with stunning views of the Delta.

Mbamba is perfectly situated for immersion in the Okavango Delta’s beauty. With top-notch safari guides and a mix of land and water-based activities, guests can expect a rich wildlife experience in this private concession, which is home to an impressive density and variety of wildlife, including rare and sought-after species.

The area is a prime denning spot for wild dogs with a high concentration of lion. Night drives, using a red filter spotlight, reveal the nocturnal world. Explore the Delta’s waterways by boat or traditional mokoro, gliding through lily-filled channels (water activities depend on seasonal levels). Birders can spot over 350 species, while helicopter flights offer breathtaking views or visits to the Tsodilo Hills, home to ancient Bushmen rock art. Between adventures, relax by the pool with a cool drink. Mbamba’s expert guides, trained by Ralph Bousfield, promise an exceptional safari experience.

Between game drives, relax by the camp pool or take a siesta in the comfort of your air-conditioned tent. The main area, with its draped fabrics and ancient artifacts, features two lounges, a library, and a well-stocked bar. Meals are served family-style at a long table, with options to dine under the stars or in the mess tent. End the day with stargazing around the firepit.
