Sable Alley

PLAN MY TRIP

Overlooking a game-rich lagoon connected to the Khwai and Sable Alley rivers, Sable Alley offers a luxury tent camp experience.

Accommodations at the camp consist of twelve spacious and stylish tents on raised decks elevated above the bush. Each tent is 600 square feet with canvas sides and walls and includes a bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower for rinsing off the dust after an exciting adventure. Two of the tents are family units with interconnected tents. Guests can kick back and relax at the end of the day from their private, shaded veranda overlooking the lovely lagoon, often filled with a resident pod of thirty hippos as well as elephants and buffaloes stopping by for a drink.

Sable Alley is situated within the 440,000 acre Khwai Private Reserve bordering the Okavango Delta World Heritage Site and comprises a diverse number of habitats including riverine woodlands, open floodplains, river, and mopane woodland. This part of Botswana is lush year-round fed by the rains from Angola that run down the Khwai and Sable Alley Rivers. A variety of game animals live here too from lions, leopards, wild dogs, elephants, buffaloes, and the sable antelopes. The camp is also quite close to the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve.

A variety of different activities are available from the camp. Day drives are conducted by expert rangers in traditional safari vehicles. Night drives are an exhilarating way to encounter nocturnal animals at play such as leopards, spiky porcupines, and honey badgers. Because the camp sits in a private reserve and only three vehicles per sighting go out a day, the camp provides a very exclusive view of the land and animals. In addition to which, Sable Alley also offers the exciting mokoro safari. Botswana’s version of a gondola, visitors can enjoy being gently poled along the water in a traditional canoe. It’s the ideal way to do some bird watching or catch sight of grunting hippos and snapping crocodiles. For an unforgettable and uplifting experience, sky-beds, located high on a tree above a waterhole are available so guests can fall asleep to the wild lullaby of elephant, baboon, and hyena below.

An all-inclusive property, all meals, local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, activities, accommodation, and concession and park fees included in the rate. The main areas all overlook the popular lagoon. There is a lounge and dining area as well as outdoor seating. A camp swimming pool lets guests play in their own man-made lagoon and splash around like wild animals or float in blissful communion looking at the clear, blue skies above and listening to the calls of the wild.
