Little DumaTau

PLAN MY TRIP

Set in the heart of the game-rich Linyanti in Northern Botswana, Little DumaTau will be the new intimate sister camp to popular DumaTau Camp.

Accommodations at Little DumaTau will consist of four spacious tents on raised wooden decks. Each tent will include large, comfy beds and a large lounge area. The en suite bathroom features a double vanity, flush toilet, and both an indoor and outdoor shower. Of course, the best place to relax will be on the room’s private shaded deck where guests can unwind and watch the wildlife from the cool waters of their own plunge pool or lie back in one of the inviting lounge chairs with a coffee and a good book.

Little DumaTau is located on the banks of the beautiful Linyanti River. This part of northern Botswana is known for its flowing waterways due to its proximity to the Linyanti River. Like so much of northern Botswana, the Linyanti has high concentrations of plains game including impala, wildebeest, red lechwe, zebra, buffalo, and antelope. There are numerous predators here including cheetah, wild dog, hyena, and leopard. In fact the camp’s name, DumaTau means “roar of the lion”. In recent years, this area has also been used as a denning site for the rare brown hyena. However, the area is most well-known for its large concentrations of elephants as they gather around the waterways.

Morning and afternoon game drives along the Savute in open 4×4 Land Rovers are the premier activity here. But water levels permitting, guests can also enjoy cruises on the channel itself by motorized boat or barge. Depending on the availability, nature walks with skilled, armed guides are wonderful ways of getting close to nature and observing the smaller things missed from the vehicles. The camp’s Star Bed offers an authentic and unique way to sleep out under the crystal clear African skies surrounded by nature. Anglers can enjoy some catch and release fishing.

The main area of camp houses a lounge and a “curiosity room” filled with objects and books for guests to explore and read for more information on the rich history of the Linyanti Region and its ample wildlife. Delicious meals are dished up at the outdoor dining room under the illumination of a starry sky. At the end of the day, everyone gathers around the camp’s fire pit for a chance to reflect and chat about the day’s adventures. Little DumaTau shares a Wellness Center and Spa with DumaTau Camp, offering a wide menu of relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatments. There is even a lap pool, a deli with tasty snacks, and a trading store.
