Kensington Place

PLAN MY TRIP

Located in the upscale neighborhood of Higgovale on the slopes of Table Mountain, Kensington Place is a hip, luxury boutique hotel.

Accommodations consist of seven Superior Suites and one Standard Room. The Superior suites are fitted with either king-size or twin beds, while the standard room has a queen bed. All the rooms are large, air-conditioned, and have balconies offering great views of Cape Town and Table Mountain. The in-room décor is beautiful with an excellent use of color and texture, timber and fabrics, linens and fresh flowers. The spacious en suite bathrooms feature either a free-standing or sunken bath. Additional amenities in the rooms include hairdryers, mini-bar, bathrobes, slippers, satellite TV, iPod docking station, Skype phone, and laptop with free Wi-Fi.

This funky and contemporary hotel is located on Kloof Street near Table Mountain in Cape Town and only minutes away from the famous Victoria and Albert Waterfront with all its excellent restaurants and shops. The city was originally founded as a provision station for Dutch ships on their way to the East Indies. This part of the city has many beautiful buildings and important sites from this period including the Castle, the Slave Tree, and even traces of the wild olive hedge planted to keep the wildlife out. Some important places nearby include the National Museum at the top end of Adderley Street where it meets Wale Street as well as the Company Gardens with the beautiful oak walk.

The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden contains protected natural forest and fynbos along with a variety of animals and birds including over 7,000 species of plants. Whale watching and adrenaline-fueled shark cage diving are also popular activities. Of course, nearby Table Mountain provides panoramic views of the Mother City, Robben Island, and the Peninsula and can be accessed by the cableway or a hike to the top. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails at the top and visitors can even abseil or tandem paraglide off the sides. Cape Town also enjoys many world class beaches. There are also excellent excursions to the outstanding Cape Winelands. In addition to which, the hotel is happy to arrange day tours to Cape Point or visits to the penguin colony at The Boulders near Simonstown

Kensington Place tries to go the extra mile by providing guests with thoughtful extras such as a beach bag with beach towels, a snack box for daily excursions, a DVD and music library for leisurely evenings, or a pamper session for tired bodies. Breakfast can be enjoyed at any time of the day. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, spa, plunge pool, and library. It was voted Tattler Magazine’s Best City Boutique Hotel of 2007.
