Castleton Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

A private and intimate lodge, Singita Castleton is situated on 44,000 acres of privately owned land in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve on the western border of Kruger National Park.

An exclusive use property, accommodations consist of six individual cottages housing up to twelve people. The three double cottages which are made up of four twin rooms and two double rooms includes air conditioning, comfy lounges, and en-suite bathrooms in a charming garden setting. Two of the cottages are inter-leading making them perfect for families with young children. Each cottage enjoys its own private deck with a pool and jacuzzi. Other amenities include a min-bar, bathrobes, hairdryer, fan, fridge, in-room safe, tea and coffee facilities, and complementary Wi-Fi.

The lodge is located on private land within the protected Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The Reserve shares thirty-one miles of unfenced land with the world-famous Kruger National Park. Together the two parks form a conservation area of almost five million acres, roughly the size of New Jersey. It is an area famous for the wide diversity of its wildlife including the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. Set between the perennial Sand and Sabi Rivers, the Sabi Sands Reserve comprises 160,618-acres. The Reserve features no less than 145 mammal species, 500 bird species, 110 reptile species, 30 amphibian species, 330 tree species, and 45 fish species.

Daily game drives with professional guides and trackers are conducted in state of the art Land Rovers. Spot lit nighttime game drives reveal the elusive doings of nocturnal African creatures. Walking safaris led by an expert tracker are the perfect way to get an intimate look at the flora and fauna of the bush. For the more adventurous, mountain biking with a guide and tracker over rugged terrain provides a thrilling look at the bushveld. The lodge even has archery lessons available.

Once the family home of Singita founder Luke Bailes’ grandfather, the property combines the best elements of a safari lodge and a country farmhouse. The family-friendly comfort of the homestead and veranda allow for daily views of the adjacent watering hole often frequented by buffalo, elephant, antelope and lion prides. Castleton delights guests with executive chef-prepared cuisine, alfresco breakfasts, vintage South African wines, fireside dinners in the boma, and sundowners in the bush. Kids and even adults enjoy the opportunity to play tennis, and use the trampoline and swimming pool. There are also beautiful gardens to admire, a wine cellar, gym, and relaxing spa available.
