Tubu Tree Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Intimately situated on Hunda Island in the Okavango’s Jao Concession, Tubu Tree Camp offers a unique combination of habitats and wildlife.

Accommodations consist of eight luxury tents that are built on raised wooden platforms. There are six twin-bedded tents, one honeymoon suite, and one family tent. The family tent consists of two adjoining tents with separate bathrooms and a shared lounge. Each tent comes with an en suite bathroom featuring double sinks and both an indoor and outdoor shower. Private wooden decks are fitted with comfortable chairs and provide the perfect spot to unwind and walk the wildlife roam past.

The camp is situated in the world-famous Okavango Delta on Hunda Island, the largest dry land environment in the area. It comprises a diverse range of habitats, which ensures a varied and spectacular game viewing experience. Some of Africa’s most sought-after creatures live in this animal-dense region. Leopard viewing is particularly good here. Rainy season in the wetlands features sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo, and crocodile. During the dry season, kudu, bushbuck, wildebeest, zebra, lion, cheetah, and leopard are all regular visitors.

Twice-daily game drives in open 4×4 Land Rovers allow for optimum game viewing and provide opportunities to photograph these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. A night game drive with a spotlight is perfect for highlighting captivating nocturnal animals. Boat cruises explore the Okavango Delta in a twelve-seater boat or a mokoro, a traditional canoe steered by long poles. Anglers will enjoy catch and release fishing in the Delta. There is also a raised hide twenty minutes from camp and is ideal for capturing glimpses of the area’s most elusive wildlife. The hide can also be reserved for overnight use. From the endangered wattled cranes, rosy-throated longclaws, African Skimmers, and Slaty egrets to Pet’s fishing owl, the coppery-tailed coucal, and the pygmy goose, the area is a paradise for bird enthusiasts.

The main dining, library, and lounge areas are raised on platforms and are linked to the rest of the camp by raised walkways. A marula tree provides a shady canopy for the outdoor bar. A refreshing pool is also raised above the bush for sweeping views of the Okavango and allows guests to cool off during the noonday heat and relax before pre-dinner drinks.
