Maxa Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Maxa Camp is nestled on the northeastern fringe of Botswana's Okavango Delta, overlooking the permanent Maxa Lagoon.

This intimate camp accommodates up to 12 guests in five tented rooms, including a family tent, each featuring indoor and open-air en-suite bathrooms. The design harmoniously blends modern safari luxury with traditional building techniques, using natural materials and locally crafted furnishings.

Guests can engage in a variety of activities, such as mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions, guided walking safaris, and day and night game drives. The area is rich in biodiversity, offering opportunities to observe hippos, elephants, and a resident coalition of four male lions, among other wildlife. Cultural interactions with the local Bukakhwe tribe provide deeper insights into the region’s heritage.

Access to Maxa Camp is via a scenic helicopter transfer from Shinde Airstrip, offering aerial views of the Okavango Delta’s intricate waterways.

The camp’s main area, known as Maxa Piazza, comprises freestanding structures connected by natural pathways, all set beneath a canopy of jackalberry and marula trees. A natural swimming pool utilizes the Okavango’s filtration systems, reflecting the camp’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Maxa Camp promises an immersive safari experience, combining luxury accommodations with authentic wilderness adventures. Its strategic location at the source of the Selinda Spillway ensures a diverse range of both water- and land-based activities, making it an ideal destination for discerning travelers seeking an exclusive and enriching safari.
