Little Tubu Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Shaded by a canopy of riverine trees on Hunda Island, Little Tubu is an intimate safari camp situated next to its sister camp, Tubu Tree Camp.

Accommodations at the camp consist of three traditional-style tents on raised wooden platforms. The rooms are furnished in neutral tones complimenting the natural surroundings and have expansive windows and sliding glass doors with panoramic views at all times. Each tent comes with an en suite bathroom featuring an outdoor shower. For added privacy, each tent has its own viewing deck with spectacular views of the island.

The camp is situated on Hunda Island, the largest dry land environment in the area, it comprises a diverse range of habitats, which ensures a varied and spectacular game viewing experience. Some of Africa’s most sought-after creatures live in this animal-dense region. Leopard viewing is particularly good here. Rainy season in the wetlands features sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo, and crocodile. During the dry season, lechwe, wildebeest, zebra, lion, cheetah, and leopard are all regular visitors.

Twice-daily game drives in open 4×4 Land Rovers allow for optimum game viewing and provide opportunities to photograph these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. A night game drive with a spotlight is perfect for highlighting captivating nocturnal animals. Boat cruises explore the Okavango Delta in a twelve-seater boat or a mokoro, a traditional canoe steered by long poles. Anglers will enjoy catch and release fishing in the Delta. There is also a raised hide twenty minutes from camp and is ideal for capturing glimpses of the area’s most elusive wildlife. The hide can also be reserved for overnight use. From the endangered wattled cranes, rosy-throated longclaws, African Skimmers, and Slaty egrets to Pet’s fishing owl, the coppery-tailed coucal, and the pygmy goose, the area is a paradise for bird enthusiasts.

The main camp rests on elevated platforms under the shade of riverine trees with raised walkways that link the tents to the common areas. Spectacular views await from the main lodge’s dining, bar, and library areas. A refreshing pool allows guests to cool off during the noonday heat and relax before pre-dinner drinks. Each building at the camp has been purposely designed to blend into its natural environment.
