Little Mombo Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Nestled on the beautiful Chief’s Island in the world-famous Okavango Delta lies exquisite Little Mombo Camp, the more intimate little sister to Mombo Camp.

Little Mombo Camp is an intimate camp perfect for small groups. Accommodations are comprised of three spacious guest tents with two twin beds in each room. The beds can be converted into a king. Each tent comes complete with an en-suite bathroom featuring an outdoor shower. There is also a private veranda, the perfect spot for relaxing and taking in the beauty of the island. Little Mombo is connected to the main Mombo Camp by a raised boardwalk.

The camp is ideally situated in the Mombo Concession on Chief’s Island, a place of plenty inhabited by a massive concentration of plains game and their corresponding predators. There are plenty of big cats in the area including lots of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. In fact, “The Eye of the Leopard” was filmed here. Other wildlife in the concession include spotted hyaena, large herds of buffalo, elephant, white rhino, giraffe, blue wildebeest, and Burchell’s zebra. Birdlife is prolific around Mombo with African jacana, pygmy-geese, goliath heron, and migrant waders in summer being particularly common.

There are plenty of exciting activities to choose from at the camp. Daily game drives are conducted in an open 4×4 Land Rover with a maximum of six to seven guests. They are led by expert rangers with a wealth of knowledge about the Concession with a good chance of seeing red lechwe, plains zebra, giraffe, and impala. There is a hide about twenty minutes from camp, it provides the perfect spot for photographing birds and animals.

The 4C’s Center is an interactive experience with information on how Wildlife Safaris’ uses the four dimensions of commerce, conservation, community, and culture to sustain and promote the local area and community. Plus, rhino conservation experts lead presentations on the return of the rhino to Botswana.

The main area at camp is comprised of a small dining room, bar, kitchen, and lounge. The refreshing plunge pool provides a great respite from the noonday sun. There is also a gym available.
