Botswana Adventurer Safari

Meandering through Chobe National Park, Savute, Moremi Game Reserve, the world-famous Okavango Delta, and on to the vast Makgadikgadi Salt Pans; the Botswana Adventurer Safari is perfect for the budget conscious traveler willing to participate in all camp duties.

A minimum of two guests is required to begin this thrilling adventure with a maximum of nine per departure. The safari generally departs from Kasane every Thursday from April to November for a full six night/seven day journey. Everyone must participate in all camp duties including the erecting and dismantling of the camp, collecting of firewood, washing dishes etc. which all lend to authentic experience of a mobile safari. Beginning in Kasane at Kalahari Tours and Coffee Buzz, expert guides will lead the expedition in custom-made safari vehicle through some of Botswana’s finest game reserves and national parks before ending returning back to Kasane.

The journey kicks off with a game drive in Chobe National Park which is known for its large herds of elephants. While the Chobe Riverfront boasts an impressive range of species including lion, hippo, buffalo, puku, wild dog, and sable antelope. Day two starts off with a four to six hour drive via the village of Kachikau and through the Chobe Forest Reserve. It ends in Savute with time to explore San Bushmen paintings in the hills and spot some of the many leopards who live here. Day three takes in a game drive of Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa.

Day four begins with an early morning game drive before heading to Maun. Day five explores the world-famous Okavango Delta. A traditional mekoro canoe trip explores the waterways and hidden lagoons rich with game and birds. Day six travels to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans on the edge of the Kalahari Basin and includes camping under the stars. Finally, day seven returns to Kasane via Pandamatenga, the only crop producing area in Botswana.

Five of the nights are spent in comfortable walk-in tented accommodations in a bow tent with built in floors and mosquito gauze at windows and entrance. Sleeping mattresses are included, but guests have to provide their own sleeping bag, pillow, and towel. Though sleeping bags can be rented for thirty dollars but need to be reserved in advance. Shared bathrooms include bucket showers and bush toilets. All meals are included from lunch on day one to lunch on day seven but water, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages need to be purchased in Kasane before departure. The rates also include a licensed and professional guide, game drives and mokoro trip, all entrance and camping fees, and medical evacuation insurance.
