Wolwedans Private Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Situated in a quiet and idyllic valley, Private Camp is Wolwedans special retreat in the NamibRand Nature Reserve.

Catering for a maximum of six guests traveling together between the middle of March and the middle of December, it is the perfect getaway for honeymooners or those seeking solitude and relaxation. Accommodations consist of six beds in three spacious en suite rooms. The large bedrooms feature four-poster beds dressed in crisp white linens with warm, downy duvets for chilly nights, and mosquito netting. The open-plan bedroom looks out onto the vast, red-hued desert plains and mountains with a roll-down canvas for privacy. The en suite bathroom comes with a solar heated shower. Other furnishings include a leather couch at the foot of the bed, a writing desk, and a dresser. A large wooden deck provides another spot to relax and gaze on the beauty and peacefulness of the landscape.

The camp is located in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Covering an area of some 494,210 acres close to Sossusvlei, the NamibRand Reserve is bordered by the Naukluft Park in the west and the impressive Nubib Mountain range in the east. The special attraction of the reserve is the diversity of desert landscapes. Virtually all facets of the Namib are represented here. Mountains plunging down into endless grassy plains are interspersed by red vegetated dunes create a living tapestry of ever-changing colors and shapes that provide a visual feast for artists and photographers.

The idea of the Private Camp is to get away for the hustle and bustle of life and busier safari camps for a day or two, with nothing much to do except relaxing and spending quality time with a partner. Guided activities are not part of the package, and the emphasis is on pure relaxation. Guests can be content to page through the books in the library, take walks in the surrounding plains, rest, play card games, and prepare their own meals as they wish and when they wish. All food and beverages are supplied. However, if guests do not want to join the activities offered at the other camps, private drives, scenic flights, hot air balloon rides, and nature walks are available if booked in advance and will be charged accordingly.

The main area of the camp houses various decks and the central lounge, combining a study, living room, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. Wolwedans is known for their exceptional cuisine and excellent South African wines. A relaxing sala or outdoor lounge provides the ideal spot for an afternoon nap. While the refreshing pool offers a cool respite from the heat of the day.
