The Delight Swakopmund

PLAN MY TRIP

Conveniently located within short walking distance of the ‘Mole, The Delight Swakopmund is a delightfully modern and inviting hotel.

Accommodations at the hotel consist of fifty-four rooms including ten loft family rooms. The twin rooms come with two cozy twin beds and an en suite bathroom. Some of the twin rooms are located on the lower floor facing the inner courtyard and some face the street. The family rooms are loft rooms that comprise two twin beds downstairs and two twin beds upstairs. All rooms come with air-conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, hairdryer and a safe. There are also rooms available for guests with restricted mobility.

The hotel is located close to the popular Mole, the main beach, and within walking distance to the city center of beautiful Swakopmund. Where the dunes meet the sea on the western edge of the Namib Desert, the city was founded at the time of the German colonial expansion into Africa. There are a host of activities to be enjoyed locally. Fishing tours can be arranged with local operators that also provide tackle. The nearby ocean has many excellent edible species including kob, white steenbras, galjoen, and kolstert, while a number of large shark species can be caught and released.

For even more adventure, guests can take a half-day tour to the seal breeding colony at Cape Cross or to Messum Crater, famous for its unique desert-adapted plant, Welwitschia Mirabilis. Visitors can explore the life and beauty of the Namib Desert on a night walk or take a quad-biking or sand-boarding adventure across the dunes. The wonders of the Skeleton Coast can be discovered by exploring it in a 4×4 vehicle and stopping at the ancient delta of the Ugab River, known for its fossilized freshwater-oyster shells the size of dinner plates. There is abundant bird life to observe in the Walvis Bay lagoon while enjoying a catamaran cruise to see dolphins and seals. When not exploring the surrounding area, tour the historical buildings and monuments of Swakopmund.

The hotel has a charming and airy breakfast dining room that is known for its delicious signature morning buffet. In the evening, guests can relax with a cocktail at the bar. A friendly hotel, the Delight Host are always ready to assist. There is also a lovely garden and secure parking.
