Mushara Bush Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Mushara Bush Camp offers visitors a comfortable and down-to-earth tented bush camp experience, aimed at those who want an affordable base from which to explore Namibia’s iconic Etosha National Park.

Accommodations at Mushara Bush Camp consist of sixteen spacious en-suite tents constructed from canvas, wood, and local limestone. Each tent includes a large private veranda and floor to ceiling windows for panoramic views. Even the large en suite bathrooms have wide windows for stunning views of the bush enjoyed from the shower. Brushed cement floors and stone walls keep the tents cool even in the afternoon sun. Four of the tents have sleeper couches suitable for two children each. Other amenities include tea and coffee making facilities, a mosquito net, electrical outlets, a hair dryer, an in-room safe, and a floor fan.

The camp is only six miles from the Von Lindequist gate on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park, so access to Etosha is quick and easy. Known for its vast size and easy accessibility, Etosha National Park boasts 114 mammal species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species, 340 bird species, and even one species of fish. In addition to which, Etosha contains the awe-inspiring Etosha Pan, a salt pan formed over many years ago by a slow drying lake. The pan is so large it can be seen from space.

Game drives are conducted by expert guides and trackers in Land Rover with raised seats for a 360-degree view. This is the best way to catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino or the elusive leopard and many more animals who live here and drink at one of the many waterholes. Impressive numbers of plains game such as zebra, kudu, Oryx, wildebeest, giraffe, springbok, impala and eland roam the grasslands as do large herds of elephants. Lions and jackals follow these large numbers of prey always on the lookout for a meal.

The main house serves up home-cooked meals on the thatched veranda with views onto the bush that surround it. A unique feature of Mushara Bush Camp is that children are most welcome. The camp offers free babysitting service, and there is a special play area for children in the main house with books, games, toys, and art supplies. An outside park features a jungle gym, an old tractor, a sand pit, and a kid’s pool. Meals and meal times will be arranged according to the children’s needs.
