Namibia

Mushara Lodge

PLAN MY TRIP

Located just minutes from Namibia’s iconic Etosha National Park, Mushara Lodge is a luxury safari destination.

Mushara Lodge offers a range of accommodation options and consists of ten spacious chalets, one family unit, one triple room, and two single rooms. The standard chalets and single rooms include an en suite bathroom with a shower. While the triple rooms and family chalet come with a shower and bath. The thatched chalets are beautifully arranged in a horseshoe around the swimming pool. Each room features the added amenities of air-conditioning, mosquito nets, mini-bar, in-room safe, tea and coffee facilities, and Wi-Fi.

The word “Mushara” is taken from the indigenous Herero language and refers to the Purple Pod Terminalia tree which grows in the region. The camp is located only five miles from the Von Lindequist gate on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park. Known for its vast size and easy accessibility, Etosha National Park boasts 114 mammal species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species, 340 bird species, and even one species of fish. Impressive numbers of plains game such as zebra, kudu, Oryx, wildebeest, giraffe, springbok, impala and eland roam the grasslands as do large herds of elephants. Lions and jackals follow these large numbers of prey always on the lookout for a meal. In addition to which, Etosha contains the awe-inspiring Etosha Pan, a salt pan formed over many years ago by a slow drying lake. The pan is so large it can be seen from space.

Activities include both self-drive and expert-guided game viewing trips into Etosha. Game drives are conducted by skilled trackers in custom Land Rover with raised seats for a 360-degree view. This is the best way to catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, and many more animals who roam the wide expanses of Etosha and drink at one of the many waterholes.

The stone and thatch public areas are comfortable, and visitors enjoy access to a small library, a bar with an extensive wine cellar, and a lounge featuring a wonderful fireplace for those cool evenings. Delicious meals are served in the dining room. There is even a curio shop for a special souvenir. The decor at the lodge is a stylish blend of African, original, and modern art. Outside, the warthogs and antelope make it their business to keep the lawns around the pool manicured. The Mushara Collection of lodges was created by the Pampe family who has turned what was once a game farm into a world class destination on the doorstep of Etosha. These lodges are an excellent alternative to accommodation within Etosha itself.
