Namibia

Villa Violet

PLAN MY TRIP

Set in a quiet leafy suburb of Klein Windhoek, the Violet Villa Bed and Breakfast is a charming and modern hotel near many shops and restaurants.

Accommodations at the hotel consist of five cozy bedrooms. Each room has a double or twin bed and the rooms are decorated in pretty shades of violet and purple. The en suite bathrooms come with a shower. Additional amenities include air-conditioning/heater, an in-room safe, a flat-screen television, and free Wi-Fi. There is also a family room with a double and a single bed.

The hotel is quaintly hidden in a quiet area of Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city. Once a German colony, vestiges of Windhoek’s colonial heritage can be seen in the proliferation of German buildings scattered throughout the city. Frequently used as a jumping off place for Namibian safaris, the city offers its own exciting sights such as Christuskirche, the old Lutheran church; the National Gallery of Namibia; the craft market in Post Street Mall; and the unique beer garden at Joe’s Beer House since the city is the brewing capital of the country.

For the more adventurous there are plenty of tours and day-trips available from Windhoek. There is horseback riding in the hills outside the city. While Katutours offers guided bike tours through the culturally and historically rich township of Katutura near Windhoek. The Hofmeyer Walk is an impressive trail through the Klein Windhoek Valley and takes hikers through the bushland for spectacular views of the city and a chance to see the aloe plants whose blooms attract many bird species. A small capital city by global standards, it is growing by leaps and bounds and known as a very clean city.

The hotel also houses a snug lounge area with a television with a DVD player and a small library. There is an honesty bar where guests can help themselves to refreshments. While the breakfast room provides tea and coffee station and homemade cookies all day long. Every morning, the hotel serves a delicious breakfast buffet in the light and airy dining room. A veranda leads onto a patio with tables and chairs and a beautiful garden with a small swimming pool and sun deck.
