Olive Grove Guesthouse

PLAN MY TRIP

Located to Windhoek’s city center, the Olive Grove Guesthouse is a beautiful boutique hotel with an emphasis on simplicity and elegance.

Newly refurbished, accommodations consist of eleven suites. The spacious rooms include an en-suite bathroom, a private safe, satellite TV, air conditioning and heating unit, fine cotton linens, kimonos, down duvets, coffee and tea bar with homemade biscuits, mini-bar, snack bar, and more. The five standard rooms are downstairs, closer to the main reception area. While five luxury en-suite rooms are located upstairs. The executive suite offers its own private lounge, dining area, separate bedroom, luxurious bathroom, flat screen TV, and complimentary Amarula, sherry, and mineral water.

The award-winning hotel is set in a peaceful corner of Windhoek. Once a German colony, vestiges of Windhoek’s colonial heritage can be seen in the proliferation of German buildings scattered throughout the city. Frequently used as a jumping off place for Namibian safaris the city offers its own exciting sights such as Christuskirche, the old Lutheran church; the National Gallery of Namibia; the craft market in Post Street Mall; and the unique beer garden at Joe’s Beer House since the city is the brewing capital of the country. A small capital city by global standards, it is growing by leaps and bounds and known as a very clean city.

For the more adventurous there are plenty of tours and day-trips available from Windhoek. There is horseback riding in the hills outside the city. While Katutours offers guided bike tours through the culturally and historically rich township of Katutura near Windhoek. The Hofmeyer Walk is an impressive trail through the Klein Windhoek Valley and takes hikers through the bushland for spectacular views of the city and a chance to see the aloe plants whose blooms attract many bird species.

There are many added amenities at the Olive Grove Guesthouse including laundry service, a plunge pool, tranquil gardens, internet and e-mail facility, a lounge and bar, secure on-site parking, and wellness room. An open-plan kitchen allows guests to observe the food preparation process while sipping drinks in the nearby lounge. Home-style food, excellent presentation, and a la carte menu set Olive Grove Guesthouse apart from the rest. A newly created upper deck boasts great views, a private dining corner, and two Moroccan-style sections. A favorite with honeymooners, it provides a space for added privacy. The breakfast buffet is popular, but hot breakfast specials are also available including Canadian pancakes with maple syrup, fresh fruit, full Namibian “fry up,” or a Scottish breakfast featuring single malt Scotch whisky.
