Cornerstone Guesthouse

PLAN MY TRIP

A unique bed and breakfast just a two-minute walk from the Swakopmund town center and five minutes from the beach, Cornerstone Guesthouse offers the allure of both worlds.

There are seven rooms including five rooms with double and twin beds, while the remaining two rooms can accommodate families of four. Each of the rooms include a flat-screen satellite TV, wireless internet, mini fridge, complimentary tea and coffee bar, private garden, and en suite bathroom. In addition to the main guesthouse, Cornerstone offers several self-catering apartments, each sleeping six comfortably in Swakopmund. Near the popular swimming beach, An Der Mole is a luxurious self-catering apartment separated from the seashore by only a promenade and well-tended public garden. The Atlantic Sicht apartment is also near the coast, and Moringa Gardens is a penthouse apartment situated in the center of Swakopmund with easy access to area restaurants and attractions.

Where the dunes meet the sea on the western edge of the Namib Desert, the city of Swakopmund was founded by German colonialists. There are a host of activities to be enjoyed locally. Half-day tours are available to the seal breeding colony at Cape Cross or to Messum Crater, famous for its unique desert-adapted plant, the Welwitschia Mirabilis.

Guests can explore the life and beauty of the Namib Desert on a night walk or take a quad-biking or sand-boarding adventure across the dunes. The wonders of the Skeleton Coast can be explored in a 4×4 vehicle, stopping at the ancient delta of the Ugab River, known for its fossilized freshwater-oyster shells the size of dinner plates. Catamaran cruises of Walvis Bay lagoon are the perfect way to spot dolphins and seals. When not exploring the surrounding area guests can tour the historical buildings and monuments of Swakopmund. Popular attractions include Swakopmund Museum, the National Marine Aquarium, a crystal gallery, the Rossmund Desert Golf Course, and an abandoned steam locomotive dating from 1896. Fishing tours can be arranged with a number of local operators that also provide tackle. The nearby ocean has many excellent edible species including kob, white steenbras, galjoen, and kolstert, while a number of large shark species can be caught and released.

As a bed and breakfast, mornings begin in the light and airy modern breakfast room with an amazing selection of yogurts, cereals, fresh fruits, juices, deli meats, cheeses, as well as homemade bread and jams, and delicious eggs and bacon. There is secure parking available as well as laundry service.
