Namibia

Little Ongava

PLAN MY TRIP

Situated on a hilltop in the private Ongava Game Reserve, Little Ongava is perhaps Namibia’s most exclusive and luxurious safari lodge.

Designed for an intimate and private safari experience, there are only three luxury villas available at Little Ongava. Each spacious suite comes with comfortable king beds that can be converted to doubles upon request. An en suite bathroom includes double sinks, an inviting bath, and both an indoor and an outdoor shower. But the best feature of the suite happens to be its private deck overlooking the plains and even comes with a refreshing plunge pool. Additional amenities include a private sitting area, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, cozy fireplace, fridge, and in-room safe.

The Ongava Game Reserve borders Etosha National Park, the wildlife epicenter of the country, and is thus the ideal base from which to experience Namibia’s natural wonders. In addition to its proximity to an incredible diversity and concentration of wildlife, the camp commands panoramic views of the African savanna. By itself, the Ongava Game Reserve boasts 125 square miles of prime wildlife viewing territory and works hard to protect its wildlife including research efforts to study rhino populations. Once an unproductive cattle farm where lions were shot on sight, the lions now enjoy several flourishing prides and are once again the hunters not the hunted.

Guided game drives are conducted by expert trackers and explore the wildlife in both Ongava or neighboring Etosha. These safaris promise sightings of all the region’s distinctive wildlife including gemsbok, springbok, hartebeest, ostrich, black and white rhino, lion, and elephant. Half-day or full-day trips into Etosha also include viewings of the Etosha Pan, a salt pan so large it can be seen from space. For the more adventurous traveler, the camp also offers guided game tracking on foot for a chance to take a more intimate look at the flora and fauna and even track rhino. The camp’s hide is the perfect spot to wait and watch the wildlife like giraffes, zebras, and rhinos come for a drink.

The thatched dining and lounge areas have spectacular views of the popular waterhole. Meals can also be enjoyed on the outdoor deck under the light of a starlit sky. The camp also has a bar, library, and a chapel. By staying at Little Ongava, guests not only enjoy a luxury experience but help fund the conservation’s research projects that protect the endangered white and black rhinos.
