Charlie

PLAN MY TRIP

A unique private and mobile safari camp exploring the remote wilderness of Tanzania, Charlie offers an expedition unlike any other

Charlie is an exclusive-use mobile safari camp that combines expertly guided walking safaris with private game drives through some of Tanzania’s most remote and least-visited wilderness areas. Designed for just two to six guests, Charlie offers a deeply personal safari experience tailored entirely to each group. The camp seamlessly blends comfort with rugged adventure, allowing guests to explore spectacular landscapes while enjoying Nomad Tanzania’s renowned guiding and hospitality.

Charlie features up to four spacious walk-in canvas tents, each furnished with comfortable cot beds and crisp cotton linen. The removable fly sheets reveal mesh ceilings, allowing guests to sleep beneath star-filled African skies, surrounded by the sounds of the bush. Shared safari-style bathrooms with hot bucket showers and traditional short-drop toilets provide everything needed after a day of exploration, while hearty meals are prepared over the campfire and enjoyed beneath an open mess tent.

The mobility of the camp allows Charlie to travel to little-explored regions of Tanzania with an exceptionally light environmental footprint. Rather than remaining in one location, the camp follows the seasons, seeking out quieter corners of the country where extraordinary wildlife encounters unfold far from the crowds. Charlie now moves between Ruaha National Park, Ugalla National Park, the Southwest Serengeti, and the Sanjan region, depending on the time of year, ensuring each safari takes place in the best possible location.

Diverse birdlife fills the day with birdsong, while the distant roar of lions provides the soundtrack to unforgettable evenings around the campfire. Every destination offers a unique wilderness experience, from riverine forests and floodplains to granite kopjes, sweeping plains and dramatic escarpments.

While walking remains at the heart of every Charlie adventure, the camp now also offers private game drives, allowing guests to explore even more of Tanzania’s remarkable landscapes. Days begin at dawn to take advantage of the cool morning air before unfolding naturally according to wildlife movements, weather and the insights of your experienced Nomad guide. Whether tracking elephant along the Ruaha River, exploring remote palm forests in Ugalla or discovering hidden corners of the Serengeti, every day is shaped by curiosity and adventure rather than a fixed itinerary.

Although Charlie has an intentionally light footprint on the landscape, its impact reaches far beyond the safari itself. Through Nomad Tanzania’s long-standing conservation and community initiatives, the camp supports local livelihoods, education and wildlife protection across Tanzania, ensuring that every journey contributes to the preservation of both people and place.
