Ronjo Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Resting under the shade of an acacia forest, Ronjo Camp is a comfortable mobile safari camp remotely located away from the crowds.

Accommodations consist of sixteen canvas tents scattered around the acacia forest giving it a definitive Out of Africa feel. There are double and twin beds available with the possibility of triple and quadruple tents as well. The en suite bathrooms come with a basin, flush toilet, and a shower. There is a sitting area inside the tent, but the best seats are outside the tent under the shaded canopy where guests can gaze at the game-rich plains while enjoying a hot cup of coffee or tea.

The camp is located in a remote area of the Serengeti National Park near the Banagi River. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, as well as a world heritage site and is famous for its annual great migration, when millions of wildebeest and more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle flood the plains in search of fresh grazing land. The Serengeti is famed for being home to the Big Five: lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, and leopard. There is plenty of bird life here too including woodpeckers and brightly colored kingfishers.

Daily game drives are conducted in comfortable safari vehicles led by expert guides and trackers. This is the best way to view the annual migration as well as spot some of the other 70 large mammal species found here such as African buffalo, warthogs, Grant’s gazelle, eland, waterbuck, and topi. For an added fee, hot air balloon rides can be booked for an aerial view of the vast Serengeti savannah. Bird watchers will revel at the chance to see some of the area’s 500 bird species.

At the heart of camp lie two large canvas mess tents. One houses the camp’s restaurant set atop a polished hardwood floor where guests can enjoy delicious meals while still enjoying views of the bush. The other tent features the camp’s bar. At night, everyone gathers around the communal fire pit for a chance to relax and chat with their fellow adventurers. The eco-friendly camp proudly runs on solar power for both electricity and hot water.
