Baraza Resort & Spa an exclusive getaway situated on the spectacular island of Zanzibar, famous for its white sandy beaches and aromatic spices.

This luxury hotel designed with an Arabic-style has a range of beautiful accommodations to choose from. The Ocean View and Ocean Front One Bedroom Villas come with an en suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a walk-in dressing room, living room, TV, DVD Player, Sultan’s Lounge Bed, mini bar area with tea/coffee making facilities, and a large terrace, complete with two sun loungers and plunge pool. While the Garden View and Sultan two-bedroom villas have the same amenities as well as a second en suite bedroom with a shower. For a more elegant experience, the Presidential Two Bedroom Villa features two en suite master bedrooms, a central living room with stunning sea views, a large plunge pool, and a spacious terrace with daybeds.

The hotel is located on the south-east coast of the exotic spice island of Zanzibar. Once the world’s largest producer of cloves, this spice island also provided nutmeg and cinnamon to Europe, the Middle East, and China for over 500 years. Originally founded by Africans, the island was discovered by the Persians in the 10th century. Since then it has had a strong Arabic influence. The sultan of Oman even relocated his capital here. Zanzibar is an archipelago with two main islands: Unguja and Pemba. In front of white sandy beaches, dhows sail across the clear, turquoise waters as fishermen still ply their trade.

The hotel takes full-advantage of its island setting and offers many water sports. The Rising Sun Dive Center is the only PADI Five Gold Palm and National Geographic Dive Centre in Zanzibar. Experienced instructors teach all levels in scuba diving. In addition, there is also snorkeling, sailing, wind surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing, biking, and volleyball available. Island tours explore the Jozani Forest, home of the endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus. Dolphin tours even provide the opportunity to swim with these highly intelligent creatures. For some more culture, the hotel offers a Stone Town tour to see the House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace, spice markets, and other historic sites.

Within the resort grounds there is a swimming pool with a poolside bar/restaurant, tennis courts, a fitness center, Frangipani Spa, and a kid’s club. Guests can enjoy cuisine from on-site restaurants including Livingstone Terrace for an open-air breakfast, Ocean Lounge Bar & Restaurant for a buffet restaurant with lighter fare, Sultans Dining room for a buffet and table d’hote dining, and Dhuhabu Bar & Lounge. The hotel has won numerous awards from Conde Nast and was even voted one of CNN’s Best Hotel in Africa.
