Namushasha River Lodge

Set in the beautiful Caprivi Strip of north-eastern Namibia, Namushasha River Lodge enjoys both comfortable lodgings and an enviable view of the Kwando River.

Accommodations at the lodge consist of twenty-four charming rooms set on the banks of the river. Each room includes two comfortable twin beds draped in mosquito netting and an en suite bathroom with a shower. Families can request the interconnecting rooms. Or there is an open-planned room with four beds for families as well. Every room enjoys its own private porch where guests can sit and take in the beauties of the Kwando River.

The lodge is located on the banks of an oxbow lake and enjoys an elevated position to view the water through a thick canopy of dense jackalberry and mangosteen trees.The Zambezi region of Namibia has a range of ecosystems including swamps, rivers, and forests. Animals living here include elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, lion, leopard, African wild dog, sable and roan antelope, waterbuck, sitatunga, lechwe, bush buck, zebra, kudu, and impala. There are over 400 bird species recorded around here includes dazzling colonies of migrant carmine bee-eaters and endemic coppery-tailed coucals.

Daily game drives explore the Bwabata National Park. These three-hour long journeys are conducted in comfortable 4×4 safari vehicles and led by expert guides and trackers who make sure their guests have a once in a lifetime experience. A boat cruise on the Kwando River not only affords exceptionally beautiful views but the chance to spot hippos, crocodiles, or even elephants coming for a drink. Anglers can join a guided fishing trip and catch species such as catfish, tilapia, nembwe, and tigerfish. While the Namushasha Heritage Centre celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the eastern Zambezi Region.

The main central entrance, designed in true African style with a wooden chandelier and carved animals, takes guests into the attractive lodge set between the trees. The dining room is open and airy with a thatched roof. The lodge’s refreshing pool is ideal for a hot afternoon.
