Olakira Migration Camp provides that authentic, nomadic safari feel as it travels around the Serengeti following the wildlife while still bringing all the comforts of home.

Accommodations at the camp consist of nine camp consists of nine stargazing tents, which have been perfectly designed so that a portion of the tent boasts a 270-degree view from beneath a meshed net.These stargazing tents allow you the flexibility to roll your bed into the meshed area for a magical experience of sleeping beneath the stars. With the galaxies glittering above, you will dream about the day’s adventures. It truly is an experience that you don’t want to miss.

Each tent comes furnished with a comfortable king-sized bed dressed in rich linens with twin beds available upon request. The en suite bathrooms feature safari-style bucket showers and flush toilets. For added privacy and relaxation, each tent has a shaded veranda with a comfortable chaise lounge and enjoy the views. There are two triple or family rooms available. Other amenities include a bathrobe and tea and coffee.

A truly mobile camp, Olakira Migration Camp is in the southern Serengeti from December to March, where the endless grasslands of the Serengeti plains make for perfect lion and cheetah hunting grounds. This is also the magical time when the great migration takes place. Every year millions of wildebeest and thousands of zebras and Thomsons gazelles flood the grasslands looking for new spots to graze. From June to November, the camp moves to the central Serengeti where the high density of game allows for year-round viewing.

Twice daily game drives are conducted by expert guides in 4×4 vehicles. A full day drive with a packed lunch or a morning or afternoon safari is also available. For an additional fee, a hot air balloon safari explores the savannas from the sky giving a panoramic view of the Serengeti and its wildlife below. After the flight, a champagne breakfast is served in the bush. Cultural visits discover the local school and villages for a look at the rich traditions and cultures of the local people. Both hot air ballooning and cultural visits are available only during the season that the camp is in the northern Serengeti.

The dining tent is open-sided and allows for dining and relaxing in front of the fireplace where huge fires are lit in the evening and where camp staff entertain guests with African songs and stories of the days excitement. The mess tent comes furnished with comfortable armchairs and deep couches, perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife from the open sides of the tent. There is even a library available.
