Olaado Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

Olaado Camp is a comfortable mobile safari camp that follows the path of the Great Migration.

Accommodations at the camp consist of eight well-appointed canvas tents. Each tent comes with comfortable twin beds or a king bed and can even be arranged as a triple. At the back of each tent is a en suite bathroom with a flush toilet, sink, and a shower. Electricity is available in the tents twenty-four hours a day and fueled by solar-powered generators. At the front of the tents, there is a shaded veranda with two camp chairs so guests can relax and take in the wonders of the Serengeti.

In the winter and spring, the mobile camp is located in the Ndutu region on the border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ndutu is home to cheetah, lion, giraffe and hundreds of bird species. Here the camp is poised to witness the dramatic spectacle of the great migration when millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras and Thomson’s gazelles pour into the Serengeti in search of new pastures. In the summer and fall, the camp moves to northern end of Serengeti National Park where the herds return after their migration to the south.

Early morning and late afternoon game drives led by expert guides and trackers in comfortable safari vehicles go in search of the herds and their predators. This is the best way to spot some of the 70 large mammals found in the Serengeti including lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, African buffalo, warthogs, Grant’s gazelle, eland, waterbuck, and topi. Bird watchers will revel at the chance to see some of the area’s 500 bird species including woodpeckers and brightly colored kingfishers.

The camp’s mess tent is housed in a large canvas tent with a wooden floor. There is also a small bar and lounge area with a fireplace where guests can relax after a game drive with a refreshing drink and a chance to chat with their fellow adventurers. The environmentally friendly camp runs on solar power for both its hot water and electricity.
