Nomad Expeditionary Walking Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

A unique private and mobile safari camp in the remote regions of Tanzania, this trip offers an experience like no other

Nomad Expeditionary Walking Camp is an exclusive experience mobile camp, where guests hike across miles of remote wilderness before sleeping in a fly tent at night (on a comfortable mattress of course). Due to the exclusive and mobile nature of the camp, it can only house between two and six guests on a trip, making it a private and personal experience tailored to the individual. The walking camp seamlessly blends comfort and rugged nature through breathtaking landscapes and attentive service. The fly tents have a removable sheet on the top, so guests can sleep under the stars on balmy African nights, surrounded by the sounds of the bush. Bucket showers with hot water are available every day during the trip and are the perfect way to relax and wash off the dust before another day of trekking. Meals are casual affairs, with hearty food cooked over a campfire and eaten under an open tent.

The mobility of the camp allows guests to travel to little-explored areas of Tanzania without having a negative impact on the environment. Tanzania’s rich wildlife showcases how truly unique and beautiful the area is, while the remoteness of the camp maximizes the exclusivity of the journey.

Diverse birds fill the day and night with their individual calls. Guests can fall asleep to the roars of lion nearby. The camp is located in three separate national parks in Tanzania depending on the time of year.

As the camp exists to show guests the beauty of the wild on foot, no traditional safari experiences like game drives and boat cruises are available (though there are plenty of waterways to explore). Even in its simplicity, however, walking is sufficient to truly experience the bush. Days begin at dawn to take advantage of the cooler mornings, and the warm African afternoons are spent relaxing in the shade of acacia trees or on the banks of a river. Game experiences are up close and personal while following a wildebeest herd or a pride of lion.

While the camp has an intentionally small footprint on the land (due to its mobility), it also supports communities throughout Tanzania to empower small businesses, lead education efforts, and draw out the potential in those with little opportunity. Every project ties support of human wellbeing to protection and conservation of habitat and wildlife.
