Nasikia Mobile Camp

PLAN MY TRIP

For an authentic safari camp experience, Nasikia Mobile Camp provides simple luxury while following the path of the great wildebeest migration through the southern Serengeti Plains from December to March.

Accommodations consist of twelve deluxe mobile tents in either single, double, triple, or family configurations. There is even a honeymoon option. The sturdy and cool canvas tents feature a large bedroom with a desk and chair, a storage chest, and wardrobe. The comfortable beds have soft cotton sheets and warm duvets. Accessed through a separate door, each tent includes an en suite bathroom with ceramic sinks, a vanity mirror, a bucket shower, and a toilet. The tents are decorated in neutral tones to blend into the natural environment. A private patio area includes a table and chair for relaxing outside and taking in stunning landscape of the Serengeti.

From December to March, Nasikia sets up camp in the Ndutu area in the Ngorongoro Conservation bordering the southern Serengeti plains. Here the camp is poised to witness the dramatic spectacle of the great migration when millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras and Thomson’s gazelles pour into the Serengeti in search of new pastures. Of course, their predators the lions, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs are hard on their hooves. Nearby Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek are extremely saline but still attract many wildlife as the waters feed the woodlands and short grass plains that the animals graze on.

Game drives are offered twice daily and conducted by knowledge guides and trackers through the central Serengeti. Besides tracking the great migration, the game drives are a great chance to spot elephant, buffalo, giraffe, warthog, cheetah, ostrich, jackal, hippos, and black rhino. For an even more intimate look at the local flora and fauna, the camp has guided walking safaris. Led by an armed walking guide, these informative nature walks follow the animal tracks and the various uses of native plants during dawn and dusk before the real heat of the day. For an additional fee, a hot air balloon safari provides an aerial view of the Serengeti plains and are followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. There are also cultural tours available to local villages and schools.

The camp runs on solar power and is positioned at different areas around the Serengeti throughout the year. Battery charging facilities and Wi-Fi are available. Meals are served in the dining tent which also includes a small lounge and shaded veranda with magnificent views of the surrounding bush. Otherwise boxed lunches are included on game drives and there is always the option for a bush breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
