The camp is perfectly situated on the rim of the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, which is a large, unbroken, non-flooded volcanic caldera that is now home to large populations of zebra and wildebeest, as well as lions and endangered black rhino. Surrounded by volcanic peaks and nestled within a grove of acacia trees, the lodge looks out towards the sunset over the crater.

The focus of any stay near the crater is a game drive to view the rich wildlife and vast landscape. A drive down into the crater exposes visitors to a dense population of migratory zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle, as well as to active prides of lion and solitary roaming leopard. Walking safaris led by knowledgeable guides explore the rim at a personal level.

Cultural visits to nearby Masai villages teach guests about the traditional lifestyle that the local communities maintain. Guests can observe house making, various arts and crafts, traditional dance, and culinary practices.
