Reteti House

PLAN MY TRIP

A small safari lodge in Northern Kenya, Reteti creates a natural and personal experience on a wildlife-rich conservancy

Four standalone rooms are perfectly situated facing beautiful open wilderness. Each room has a heated outdoor shower and a private veranda with an expansive view of the landscape. The lodge also has a family suite that can sleep up to four guests and includes an indoor shower. The lodge is completely exclusive and can house up to 14 guests, a relatively small capacity that preserves its intimate and personal atmosphere. Light, airy design combined with modern and neutral-toned décor lends an air of luxurious comfort to the entire house.

Reteti House is in the Namunyak Community Conservancy in Northern Kenya. A drier ecosystem than most of Kenya, it has a distinctive landscape and a unique variety of wildlife. Rocky mountains on the horizon frame semi-arid scrubland that is home to elephant, leopard, giraffe, and wild dog. The remote location in the lush foothills can be explored by vehicle or on foot.

The private nature of the house enables guests to take part in a variety of exclusive activities. Visitors can take beading classes from women in the nearby Samburu community, as well as witness the skill of blacksmiths in the village. Easy guided walks and more difficult mountain hikes allow guests to explore the wilderness on foot at their own pace. Guests can also venture out on morning, evening, and night game drives in search of leopard or wild dog. Fly camping under the stars is available for an immersive natural experience.

The lodge can also provide trips to nearby Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, just a short trip away. The sanctuary has a large herd of young and baby elephants that have been rescued from the area and aims to return each calf to its herd. Guests of Reteti House have a private viewing time to interact with the keepers and elephants and can observe a morning or evening feeding. This is one initiative that Reteti House supports to further conservation efforts in Northern Kenya.
