Ol Pejeta House

PLAN MY TRIP

Once the majestic ranch house of multi-millionaire Adnan Kashoggi, Ol Pejeta House is now an elegant safari lodge in the center of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy near Nanyuki.

Accommodations at the lodge consist of a private guest cottage, two master suites, and two guest bedrooms. The charming Buffalo Cottage has its own private entrance and garden and features two deluxe en suite bedrooms and a central drawing room with a cozy fireplace. The main house comes with two magnificent master suites, ‘his’ and ‘hers’ both with king-sized beds, lavish furnishings, private verandas, opulent bathrooms, and seperate dressing rooms. In addition, the house offers two luxurious guest rooms that also enjoy their own private veranda and en suite bathroom. All rooms have a dedicated room steward, 24-hour room service, full laundry and valet service, and bathrobes and slippers.

Ol Pejeta House is located on the 110,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Southern Laikipia. Out of all of the parks and reserves in Kenya, Ol Pejata Conservancy possesses the highest density of wildlife. Some animals frequently sighted are here buffalo, leopard, Grevy’s zebra, and Jackson’s hartebeest. It is also a working wildlife conservancy and cattle ranch, and guests are encouraged to take part in the camp’s special Interactive Conservation Safari, a 4-night experience. With almost 100 rhinos in residence, Ol Pejata is the largest rhino sanctuary outside of South Africa. The conservancy also hosts the only sanctuary for chimpanzees in Kenya.

Daily game drives are conducted by expert guides in comfortable 4×4 vehicles. Night drives capture the nocturnal activities of many animals including the elusive leopard. Guided nature walks and bird watching treks explore the conservancy in greater detail taking in the smaller flora and fauna often missed from the vehicle’s vantage. For a more unique way to travel, there are camel safaris available. But the lodge also has some unique activities as well like a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary, home to almost fifty rescued chimps transferred from another sanctuary originally started by expert Jane Goodall. Ol Pejata researchers and rangers educate guests about wildlife and offer opportunities to track local lion and rhino populations.

The lodge enjoys outstanding views of Mount Kenya. The lavish mansion features a series of reception rooms, including an elegant drawing room with a baronial fireplace, and a number of scenic verandas, which extend around the house. The impressive dining room is served by its own dedicated chef and kitchens, and menus can be tailored to suit guests’ wishes. The lodge also has two private swimming pools, a barbecue, and an outdoor dining area.
