AfroChic Diani Beach

PLAN MY TRIP

Set in an uncrowded beach paradise, AfroChic Diani Beach is a small, boutique hotel in a quiet ocean side paradise south of Mombasa.

Accommodations at the hotel consist of ten individually-designed rooms. Guests can choose between the Garden View rooms, Ocean View rooms, Junior Suite, and Executive Suite. Every room enjoys a unique and eclectic décor and furnishings as well as en suite bathroom with a shower and bath. For the ultimate relaxation, each room comes with a balcony fitted with sun loungers for relaxing with a coffee or book while soaking in the views. Other amenities include tea and coffee facilities, television with DSTV, Wi-Fi, mini bar, and laundry services.

The hotel is located on the shores of beautiful Diani Beach on the South Coast of Kenya just south of Mombasa. The area has been a long kept secret making it quieter and less crowded than the more popular beaches on the North Coast. The water is shallow near shore along the eleven miles of white sandy beach with some underwater sand bars that are perfect for wading. The area’s coral reefs are home to dolphins, turtles, sting rays, moray eels, and more. While the island’s thick tropical forests are home to the black and white colobus monkeys. It’s also near the Shimba Hills National Wildlife Reserve that looks across the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

There are plenty of activities available on Diani Beach. The Diani Marine 5-Star PADI Dive Center offers two boat trips a day as well as a deep pool for training beginners. Snorkeling in the clear waters at the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park is like viewing an undersea garden of stunning coral formations and ample sea-life. Guests don’t even need to get in the water to view marine life; a local fisherman can guide them during low tide to see sea urchins, sea spiders, corals, starfish, and stonefish. There are also plenty of water sports available including kayaking, body boarding, kite surfing, and wind surfing. For those wishing to see more animals, there are trips to the Shimba Hills National Wildlife Reserve, and Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary.

Once a private residence, the hotel has been transformed into a luxury retreat. Delicious meals of fresh seafood with a blend of local and international flavors can be savored in the dining room, veranda, and gardens. The hotel also has a pool, beach gazebo, and a spa offering specialized detox treatments, massages, and reflexology. There is even an 18-hole golf course nearby.
