Serian’s Nkorombo

PLAN MY TRIP

Situated among a grove of wild olive and orange croton trees in the Masai Mara Reserve, Serian’s Nkorombo is a tranquil, low-key mobile tent camp with amazing views of the game-rich Mara River.

Accommodations at the camp consist of five spacious ‘Selous style’ canvas tents dotted along the Mara’s banks. Each tent features en suite bathrooms with flush toilets and traditional bucket showers. The comfortable tents are furnished with all the ambiance and simple elegance of the classic safaris of the past. Canvas chairs sit perched under the tent’s awning providing a place to relax and watch the wildlife roam past.

Nkorombo lies along the winding banks of the Mara River, it’s waters swarming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile, in the heart of Kenya’s grand Masai Mara National Reserve. The Reserve occupies 938-square miles of pristine wilderness and is well-known for its hilly grasslands fed by plentiful rains and home for a wide array of wildlife from the Big Five to herds of migrating wildebeest. Every year from July to November, the Masai Mara witnesses the Great Migration where millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras cross the pains in search of new pastures with their predators the lions, leopards, and hyenas hard on their hooves.

Activities at the camp include daily game drives in open-topped 4-wheel drive vehicles conduced by a dedicated guide and spotter. Picnic lunches and sundowners are a terrific way to take in the sights while enjoying a delicious meal. The camp is ideally located near a salt lick that features black rhino and plenty of predators.

The main camp includes a stylish mess tent where guests eat family style. Meals can also be enjoyed outdoors on the riverbank the shade of the orange crotons by day and under a canopy of stars at night. After dinner, everyone gathers around the campfire for a drink and chance to swap tales of the day’s adventures. The camp enjoys power all day and night thanks to the generators.
